About AAU, Jorhat

Established on April 1, 1969, Assam Agricultural University stands as the pioneering institution in the entire North-Eastern Region of India. Nestled in Jorhat, its foundational roots merge the erstwhile Assam Agricultural College at Jorhat and the Assam Veterinary College at Khanapara, Guwahati. Since its inception, AAU has expanded its footprint with the establishment of several colleges, each contributing to its overarching goal of fostering globally competitive human resources in the agricultural sector. Emphasizing sustainability, equity, and food security at the household level, AAU is committed to research, education, and technology dissemination.

Selection Process of AAU Admission

Candidates seeking admission to the Undergraduate degree programmes at the University will undergo a selection process primarily based on their performance in the Common Entrance Test 2024, which will be conducted centrally by AAU. Students who have passed their 10+2 examinations from the science stream and hold a certificate of Permanent Residence of Assam and NER (for HFC seats) are eligible to apply for the test.

Additionally, students who are yet to complete their qualifying examinations can also appear for the Common Entrance Test 2024. However, they must successfully pass their 10+2 exams before the date of admission.

Furthermore, wards of defense/para-military personnel who have been stationed in the State of Assam for a minimum duration of one year are also eligible to apply for the Entrance Test 2024.

This selection process ensures a fair evaluation of candidates’ academic readiness and eligibility for admission into the esteemed undergraduate programmes offered by AAU.
