After the completion of the election process in Bodoland, the number of families covered under Orunodaya Yojana will be increased to 24 lakhs. For this purpose, the state government will require Rs 2400 crore every year. The assistance amount will be transferred to the account of one of the female members of the family. In the new Assam Orunodoi scheme, the state government of Assam aims to provide financial assistance of Rs.830 per month to about 15-17 thousand families per assembly constituency.
It has been described as the foremost bead in the “Ashtadash Mukut Unnayene Mala” announced by the Finance Minister in the Budget 2020-21. At the rate of Rs. 830 per month, the beneficiaries of Arunodaya Yojana will receive a total benefit of Rs 10,000 per year for nutritional and medicinal assistance.

Assam Arunodaya (Arunodaya) Project
The main objective of the Arundoi scheme is to financially help the underprivileged/poor families in the state and improve their lives through adequate income support. The state government has earmarked Rs 280 crore for the new scheme. The scheme has been formally announced by the state government, however, the scheme will be launched only on 2 October 2020.

To enroll for financial assistance in Assam Orunodaya Yojana, applicants need to enter their address details. Objective of Assam Orunodaya Yojana
The main objective of Assam Orunodaya Yojana is to help the underprivileged/poor families in the state financially and improve their lives through adequate income support. The state government has earmarked Rs 280 crore for the new scheme. Arunodaya Yojana envisages poverty alleviation and socio-economic inclusion of the financially weaker families of the state. This is done through permanent financial assistance by DBT by availing cash transfer on monthly basis.

Beneficiaries of Arundoi Scheme
According to the Assam government, women will be the beneficiaries of this scheme, who will get a financial benefit of Rs.830 per month under this scheme. Since, women are the primary caregivers of the family, they have been chosen as the scheme beneficiaries.

The selection of beneficiaries under the Arundoi scheme will be started from 17th August 2020. This mount will be transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries on the 1st of every month. The money will be transferred to the bank accounts of the nominated female beneficiary of the family through direct benefit transfer mode.
Arundoi scheme will cover all state resident families whether they are covered under NFSA or not. During the selection of beneficiaries of Arundoi scheme, preference will be given to specially enrolled women, widow/ divorced/ unmarried women/ separated women, specially-abled female member.
Eligibility Criteria for Assam Orunodaya Yojana
To take advantage of Arunodai Yojana, applicants must fulfill the following basic eligibility criteria for Orunodoi Scheme in Assam:-
- Applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam and should be currently residing in the state.
- The combined annual household income of the applicant should not exceed Rs 2 lakh per annum.
- The beneficiary (nominated female member) should have a bank account, in which the name in the bank account should match with the records of the scheme.
- In case the beneficiary does not have a bank account, a bank account is required to be opened before the date of approval of the Orunodoi scheme.
It is important to note that priority will be given to those families who have widows, divorced/ unmarried/ separated women and a particular member of the household. Further, priority will be given to those poor families whether they are covered under NFSA or not.
