2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

The PET for Commando Battalions is highly competitive. Marks are awarded based on performance, and candidates must clear all events.

For Male Candidates (Total 80 Marks)

A. 4.8 km Race

• Distance: 4800 Meters (4.8 Km)
• Maximum Time: 20 Minutes
• Marks: 20 Marks
• Note: Candidates must complete the run within 20 minutes. Faster timing yields higher marks.

B. Long Jump

• Minimum Jump: 365 cm
• Marks: 20 Marks
• Chances: 3 Chances given; best jump recorded.

C. Chin Up

• Total Marks: 20 Marks
• Requirement:
  • 4 Chin-ups: 10 Marks (Minimum Qualifying)
  • 14 Chin-ups: 20 Marks (Maximum)
  • Less than 4 Chin-ups leads to disqualification.

D. 100 Meter Race

• Distance: 100 Meters
• Time: 15 Seconds (Qualifying)
• Marks: 20 Marks
• Note: Candidates completing the race in 15 seconds or less will be awarded marks based on timing.

Medical Standards

Before the Physical Test, candidates undergo a medical checkup.

• General Health: Must be free from physical deformities like knock knees, flat foot, squint eyes, varicose veins, etc.

  • Distant Vision: 6/6 (Better Eye) and 6/9 (Worse Eye).
  • Near Vision: 0.6 (Better Eye) and 0.8 (Worse Eye).
