A crucial part of the selection process is the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

1. Physical Standard Test (PST)

The PST is the first screening stage. It carries no marks, but candidates must meet the minimum measurements to proceed to the PET.

2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

The PET is the most critical stage where candidates earn marks based on their performance. The standards differ for Male and Female candidates and also between Armed Branch (AB) and Unarmed Branch (UB).

For Male Candidates

A. Race (Running)

  • Distance: 3200 Meters (3.2 Km)
  • Maximum Time: 14 Minutes (840 Seconds)
  • Marks Awarded:
    • 20 Marks: For completing in 10 minutes or less.
    • Qualifying: Must complete within 14 minutes. Marks decrease as time increases.

B. Long Jump

  • Minimum Jump: 335 cm
  • Maximum Marks: 20 Marks (for 500 cm or more)
  • Chances: 3 Chances given; best jump recorded.

C. Chin Up (Only for AB Constable)

  • Total Marks: 20 Marks
  • Requirement:
    • 4 Chin-ups: 10 Marks (Minimum Passing)
    • 14 Chin-ups: 20 Marks (Maximum)
    • Less than 4 Chin-ups leads to disqualification.

For Female Candidates

A. Race (Running)

  • Distance: 1600 Meters (1.6 Km)
  • Maximum Time: 08 Minutes (480 Seconds)
  • Marks Awarded:
    • 20 Marks: For completing in 05 minutes 30 seconds or less.
    • Qualifying: Must complete within 08 minutes.

B. Long Jump

  • Minimum Jump: 244 cm
  • Maximum Marks: 20 Marks (for 389 cm or more)
  • Chances: 3 Chances given.

Marks Distribution for Physical Test

The total marks for the Physical Efficiency Test vary by post type:

  • Constable (Unarmed Branch) – Male/Female: Total 40 Marks (Race + Long Jump).
  • Constable (Armed Branch) – Female: Total 40 Marks (Race + Long Jump).
  • Constable (Armed Branch) – Male: Total 60 Marks (Race + Long Jump + Chin Ups).

Medical Standards

Before the Physical Test, candidates undergo a preliminary medical checkup.

  • General Health: Must be free from physical deformities, knock knees, flat foot, squint eyes, varicose veins, etc.
  • Eye Sight:
    • Distant Vision: 6/6 (Better Eye) and 6/9 (Worse Eye).
    • Near Vision: 0.6 (Better Eye) and 0.8 (Worse Eye).
    • Color Blindness is a disqualification.

Important Instructions for PST/PET

  1. Biometric Verification: Candidates’ biometrics will be captured before and after the test to prevent impersonation.
  2. Original Documents: Candidates must bring original testimonials (Age, Caste, Education) for verification during PST.
  3. No TA/DA: No travel allowance is provided for attending the test.
  4. Drug Test: Random drug testing may be conducted to ensure fair play.
