State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) aka State Eligibility Test (SET) is an examination conducted by SLET Commission Assam (N.E. Region). The main motive behind this exam is list a pool of eligible candidates to be appointed as an Asst. Professor in the same league as National Eligibility Test (NET) organised by University Grants Commission (UGC).

Eligibility Criteria of Assam SLET Exam 2023
Assam SLET 2023 Exam notification was released and the application process started from 15th November 2023. The exam is conducted to determine eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor in the North-Eastern Region. Assam State Level Examination (SLET) has been renamed as State Eligibility Test (SET). Thus, candidates should not get confused with SLET and SET; They are the same. The exam was proposed to cover the North Eastern Region candidates. States are included in this. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Tripura.

Age Limit for Assam SLET
There is no age limit to appear in SLET Exam. Candidates who qualify in the Test are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor within the jurisdiction of the Member-States of this SLET Commission .
Assam SLET Exam 2023 Qualification Details
- General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates who have secured atleast 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC are eligible for this test. However, the scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Person with Disability (PWD) Category, the Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer who have secured atleast 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master degree or equivalent examination are eligible to appear in the Test.
- Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing at the final qualifying Master degree (final year) examination and result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examination have been delayed may also apply for this Test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of pass certificate only after they have passed the Master degree examination or equivalent examination with atleast 55% marks in case of General/Unreserved/General-EWS category and atleast 50% marks in case of OBC (Non-creamy layer), SC/ST/PWD/Third Gender category candidates. Such candidates must obtain Master Degree within 2 (two) years from the date of concerned SLET result with required percentage of marks failing which they shall be treated as disqualified. Candidates are eligible to appear in the subject of their Post-graduation only.
- The Ph.D. degree holders whose Masters level examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks. (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.

The SLET 2023 exam will comprise two papers. Both the papers will have objective type questions of the following types:
- Multiple Choice Questions
- Assertion and Reasoning
- Matching
- True and False
Here is the detailed structure:
Paper-I will have questions from teaching aptitude/ research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness.
Paper-II will have subject-based questions.
Syllabus Assam SLET 2023
The syllabus for each subject of the SLET 2023 exam is available on the official website. Candidates can download the same as per the subject they have applied for. Go to the official website and click the ‘Click Here’ link in front of the ‘Syllabus’ option on the home page. A list of all the subjects will appear. Click the respective subjects to download the syllabus. The syllabus for Paper-I will be common for all.

Assam SLET 2023 Application Process
The online application process for the Assam SLET 2023 exam has started on 11th November 2021 and will continue till 28th December 2021. Candidates are advised to submit the application form within the specified time.
- Scanned image of coloured passport-sized photograph (size 5Kb to 50KB)
- Scanned image of Signature (size 5Kb to 50KB)
- Scanned images of attested Master’s degree certificates and mark sheets
- Attested copies of category certificate
Steps for Filling the Assam SLET 2023 Application Form
- Visit the official website at https://sletneonline.co.in/.
- Click on the ‘Apply Now’ button.
- Provide the details asked for such as PG course, subject, exam center, candidate’s name, date of birth, sex, category, father’s name, mother’s name, email, phone number, examination details, upload photograph, signature, accept the declaration, and click the ‘Save & Next’ button.
- After the registration is complete, a unique application number will be generated. Note it down.
- Download the Challan copy.
- After two days, deposit the exam fee in any State Bank of India branch.
- And, after two days of fee submission, take a printout of the submitted application form.

Assam SLET 2023 Exme Centres
It is endeavoured to make atleast one centre in each constituent University of the SLET Commission with a minimum 25 candidates. If the number falls short of this in a centre, then the candidates of that centre will be attached to the nearest centre.
