Assam: Summer Vacation From May 1 – May 31 For All Government Schools: In the wake of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Assam State Government has announced summer vacation for all government schools in Assam from May 1 to May 31. Due to the impact of the coronavirus lockdown on educational institutions, the Assam government has announced a summer break from May 1 to May 31 so that it falls during the lockdown period.
Speaking as the chief guest at a press conference at the NHM office, Minister Dr Himanta Bishwa Sarma announced May 1 to May 31 as summer vacation in schools across the state. Usually, summer vacation was given in July.
Dr. Sarma also told that SEBA and the AHSEC will declare the results for class 10 and HS examinations on mid-June.
Dr Sarma further added, “This time the students won’t receive paper mark sheet as we don’t want the student to come to school. Everyone will receive digital mark sheets. These mark sheets can be used for admission purpose, too”.

Moreover, to save the academic year of the students, the state government has planned to extend the academic year till March 31 this year. However, the government has sought advice from academics on the issue rather than taking a unilateral decision.
The Assam government had constituted a task force to examine the feasibility of online education in the state. The task force was due to submit a report on May 4. Many states have called for summer vacations to make up for lost time during nationwide lockdowns, which have now been extended to May 1. On Wednesday, the Delhi government announced the start of summer holidays for government and aided schools from May 11 to June 30.
Meanwhile, Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi has directed the health department to effectively implement ‘contact tracing’ to contain the spread of coronavirus in the state.
Following the detection of two more positive cases on Tuesday, concerted efforts must be made to aggressively implement contact tracing to break the chain of transmission, the governor said while reviewing the mitigation measures adopted and led by the health and family welfare department in close association with other departments of the state.
