All teachers and other official employees of educational institutions in Assam, from primary school to universities, will have to mandatorily take COVID-19 tests between the 21st and 30th of August.
“All the teachers from primary to university level will test themselves for COVID-19 from August 21 to 30. This is for the greater interests and safety of the students. The teachers will have to mandatorily attend their workplaces from September 1. Failing of which will be regarded as leave without pay,” Dr. Sarma said.
“I understand that many have left for home from their respective place of work during this pandemic. But they should come back and join office mandatorily on 1st September,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Though the attendances of the teachers from September 1 have been made mandatory, the government is yet to take the final decision on reopening the schools and colleges of the state. Dr. Sarma stated that the future course of action will be taken according to the directives of the centre.

“I understand that many have left for home from their respective place of work during this pandemic. But they should come back and join office mandatorily on 1st September,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma on August 18.
‘Leave without pay’ will be implemented on any teacher or other official employee who fails to join duty on 1st September.
