Assam to appoint over 4,700 people in education department on September 23

The Assam government will recruit more than 4,700 people to various posts in the education department on September 23 as part of a massive recruitment drive. A minister gave this information on Tuesday. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said that appointment letters for 4,717 posts in his department would be handed over during the function on Friday.
“Most of these posts are of teachers from school to college level. Vacancies in posts other than teachers will also be filled during the exercise,” he told reporters here.

Pegu said the list includes the names of 1,298 teachers, who had moved the Gauhati High Court over the issue of grace marks, after the court had stayed their appointments.

He said that out of the total posts, 3,811 would be in schools, 803 in higher education and 103 in technical education sectors.

The Assam government will issue appointment letters to around 12,000 youth in various departments in a mega recruitment exercise in Guwahati on September 23.
The minister also said that a ‘white paper’ would be published by the education department, which would cover all sectors like schools, colleges and technical education.

He said, “Since 2011 there have been massive reforms in the education department. Over two lakh appointments have been given. A huge amount of infrastructure development is taking place. So we decided to bring out a ‘white paper’ on our department. Is.” added.

Pegu said the planned ‘white paper’ is underway and is expected to be released within the next two months.
When asked about the closure of government schools, the education minister said the department has received a proposal to merge 1,710 schools with other nearby institutions in the districts.

He said, “After that, we have received around 300 applications requesting not to amalgamate those respective schools. They have given various reasons in the name of historical importance of these 300 schools or some important personalities or physical difficulties in moving to the new school. cited.”
Pegu said a central committee has been constituted to look into these appeals and they will decide on each case separately.

He said, “During the last exercise a few years ago, we made teachers provincial but did not touch the schools. So, what will happen to those schools, it was a question. We will merge those schools this time.”
Pegu, however, said that the entire exercise of amalgamation would be carried out without violating the right of children to education.

Provincialization means the government is taking over all the liabilities of a non-government school, which was established with the sole purpose of providing education to serve the society by paying salaries and other benefits to the teachers.
