Nijut Babu Asoni Assam 2026: The Government of Assam, Higher Education Department, has officially launched a flagship welfare scheme named “Mukhya Mantri Nijut Babu Asoni” for the academic year 2025-26. This initiative is designed to provide DBT-based monthly financial assistance to eligible male students enrolled in Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) courses in Government and Provincialised Educational Institutions across Assam.

Mirroring the successful “Nijut Moina Asoni” for girls, this scheme aims to support boys from economically vulnerable backgrounds, ensuring they can continue their higher education without financial hurdles. Eligible students can receive up to ₹20,000 per year.

Objective of the Scheme

The primary goals of the Nijut Babu Asoni are:

• To increase the enrollment of male students from economically weaker families in higher education.
• To improve the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) of the state.
• To reduce dropout rates among boys at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• To ensure gender parity and promote social equity in alignment with NEP 2020.

Financial Benefits (Amount to be Provided)

The scheme offers substantial financial support directly to the student’s bank account via DBT mode.

1. For Undergraduate (UG) Students

• Monthly Incentive: ₹1,000/- per month
• Duration: Up to 10 months per year.
• Total Annual Amount: ₹10,000/- per academic year.

2. For Postgraduate (PG) Students

• Monthly Incentive: ₹2,000/- per month
• Duration: Up to 10 months per year.
• Total Annual Amount: ₹20,000/- per academic year.

> Note: No incentive will be paid during summer vacations or any vacation exceeding one month.

Eligibility Criteria for Nijut Babu Asoni

To avail of the benefits, students must meet the following strict eligibility conditions:

1. Residency: Must be a domicile of Assam.
2. Gender: Only Male students are eligible.
3. Income Limit: The annual family income must be less than ₹4.00 Lakh.
4. Enrollment: Must be enrolled as a regular student in UG 1st Year or PG 1st Year in a Government or Provincialised Institution in Assam.
   • Exclusion: Students in Private institutions or Self-financed courses are NOT eligible.
5. Marital Status: Only unmarried students are eligible.
6. Other Exclusions:
   • Students who opted for the Banikanta Kakati Merit Award (Scooter Scheme) are not eligible.
   • PG students availing the CM’s Jibon Prerana Scheme are not eligible.
7. Conduct: Beneficiaries must maintain discipline, regular attendance, and good academic conduct. Violation of rules (ragging, cheating) will lead to withdrawal of benefits.

Required Documents for Application

Candidates should keep the following documents ready for the online application process:

• Aadhaar Card (Mandatory).
• PAN Card (if available).
• Bank Account Passbook (Student’s own account, Aadhaar-seeded).
• Income Certificate (Issued by competent authority, showing annual income < ₹4 Lakh).
• Admission Receipt/ID Card (Proof of enrollment in UG/PG).
• Domicile Certificate/PRC.
• Passport Size Photograph.

How to Apply for Nijut Babu Asoni Assam 2026?

According to the official executive order, the application process involves coordination between students and their respective educational institutions via the SAMARTH Portal.

1. Data Submission: Students must ensure that the data provided by them to their respective Colleges/Universities is correct and complete.
2. Verification by Institute: The Registrars/Principals of the institutions will collect, verify the student’s data, and submit the correct data for auto-verification in the SAMARTH Portal.
3. Nodal Teachers: Every Head of the Institute will notify One or Two Nodal Teachers specifically to implement the Mukhya Mantri Nijut Babu Asoni (MMNBA) in their institution.
4. Opt-Out Option: Guardians have the choice to decide whether their sons will avail of the benefits under this scheme. If a student opts out, the Head of the Institution must intimate the authorities.
5. Drop Outs: If a beneficiary student drops out, the institution must inform the authorities immediately to stop the benefit.

Updated Document Requirements

In addition to the previously mentioned documents, the notification clarifies the proof of income:

• Income Proof: A valid Income Certificate from the competent authority OR the Ration Card of the parents.

Mode of Payment

• Method: The financial assistance will be disbursed via the Monthly DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) system.
• Destination: The funds will be credited directly into the Bank Account of each eligible male student.
