BPF Joins MAHAJATH in the forthcoming Assam Assembly Election – Says Hagrama Mohilary: Today Hagrama Mohilary tweeted that his party BPF will join MAHAJATH. And no longer be with BJP. This is a huge news in the political context of the state.

The grand alliance was formed in January with Congress, AIUDF, Communist Party of India, CPI (Marxist), CPI (Marxist-Leninist) and Anchalik Gana Morcha.

BPF president Hagrama Mohilary, the former chief executive member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Council (now Bodoland Territorial Region), made the announcement on Saturday.

Mohilary on his Twitter handle announced that the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has taken the decision to snap ties with BJP for joining hands with the grand alliance to fight the upcoming Assam Assembly election.

The decision was taken at the 11-member core committee meeting of the BPF held in Baksa on Saturday for “peace, unity and development”, Mohilary said.

“To work for Peace, Unity and Development the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has decided to join hands with MAHAJATH in the forthcoming Assam Assembly Election,” Mohilary tweeted.

“We shall no longer maintain friendship or alliance with BJP,” Mohilary further said.

BPF has three ministers in the Sarbananda Sonowal government in Assam.

The BPF ministers are Pramila Rani Brahma, Chandan Brahma and Rihon Daimary.

According to sources, the grand alliance will address a joint press conference in Guwahati on Sunday.
