Education Department Assam Recruitment 17,293 Teachers Posts Vacant, Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) Exam In September: The Department of Education will organize the General Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for teachers of upper primary and upper primary schools in September this year. This mandatory qualification examination is conducted for teachers under the Right to Education Act. This is the second time that the General TET Examination will be held in the state after being organized seven years ago. Candidates who qualify in the TET examination will be able to apply for vacant posts. At present, there are 17, 293 vacancies at the level of LP and UP in Assam. 10,137 are at the primary level, while at the upper primary level, 7,155 posts are lying vacant.

A source from the State Education Department told The Sentinel that ““any candidate who qualifies in the Teachers’ Eligibility Test examination does not necessarily mean that he or she will get the job. It simply means that the persons concerned are now qualified to apply against the advertised vacant posts.”

Meanwhile, State Education Minister Siddharth Bhattacharya said on Wednesday, “Those qualified teachers who are working in the TET post are not required to appear in the second round of the TET exams held in September 2019.”
