Gauhati University PG Admission 2021 – MA, MSc & MCom Admission: Gauhati University (GU) has released a notification for the online process of Gauhati University PG Admission 2020. Gauhati University is going to start its online Post Graduation (PG) admission form fillup portal very soon, where interested and eligible candidates apply online for Post-Graduate (PG) courses in Arts (MA), Science (MSc) and Commerce (MCom).

Eligibility Criteria for GU PG Admission 2021

Here is the eligibility criteria for admission into various post graduate courses under Gauhati University.

MA and MSc Courses:

# B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. (in 10+2+3 pattern) with Major/honours courses in the concerned subject or
# B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (in 10+2+3 pattern) with a general pass course with at least 45% Marks in the concerned subject as well as in aggregate or equivalent CGPA.

MCom Course:

# 45% Marks is to be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in Part I and Part II of the (2+1) pattern and part I, part II and Part III of the (1+1+1) pattern .

GU PG Common Entrance Test 2021

There will be a Common Entrance Test for admission into different Post Graduate Courses to be conducted by Gauhati University (both for the University Departments and the Affiliated Colleges of the University) for the session 2021-22. Admissions will be based strictly on the performance and eligibility criteria of the Entrance Examination.

The Offline Entrance Test will be conducted in the month of September 2021.

However, last year, the admission was made based strictly on the performance and eligibility criteria of the respective qualifying examination. No Common Entrance Test was held for the session 2020-21.

Reservation of Seats for GU PG Courses are as under

# Scheduled Caste: 7%
# Scheduled Tribes (Plains): 10%
# Scheduled Tribes (Hill): 5%

# Differently Abled: 3% (for each Discipline of Faculty)
# Sons and daughters of permanent GU Employees: 1 Seat in each dept with intake capacity 40 or less and 2 seats when the intake is more than 40 students.
# Fringe Village: 10 seats
# GU Ex-Employees: 5 seats
# Ex- Defense: As per EC resolution
# Moran Community of Assam: 2 seats.
# Extra Curricular: 1 seat in each department.
# NCC & NSS: 5 seats.
# Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 10% Reservation from unreserved category in each subject.

# In Admission into the Traditional Program of Study, 80% of total intake will be reserved for Gauhati University Students. The remaining 20% will be reserved for other than Gauhati University Students.

# As per Executive Council resolution No. WEC-02/2020/13 dated 25.01.2020 Economically Weaker Section (EWS) i.e. 10% from the unreserved category will be reserved into the different Post Graduate Courses for the University Departments and the Affiliated Colleges of the University.

Gauhati University PG Admission Fee

Last year, all fees relating to admission into different Post Graduate Courses of University Departments and the Affiliated Colleges of Gauhati University for the session 2020-21 has been waived in accordance with notification No.AHE.639/2018/16 dated 10th June, 2020 from Higher Education Department, Govt. of Assam.

However, there is no such provision this year; that means this year candidates have to pay a certain amount as an admission fee. The same will be updated once, the official admission brochure is released by the university.

STEP 3: Next, the unique id is sent to the candidate’s mobile number. Keep it safe for future references.

STEP 4: Next, go to the candidate login and enter registered user id and password.

STEP 5: Then click on this link i.e GU Admissions portal and select the coursewise application form

STEP 6: Then, fill the application form with relevant details like unique id, applicant name, identity details and submit.

STEP 7: After doing so, the user id and password is sent to the candidate’s mobile number. Go to the applicant login and enter the same.

STEP 8: Now, upload the documents and pay the relevant application fee. Do not forget to take a print out of the application form.
