NRC Assam Special Verification Process for Gaon Panchayat Secretary/ Lot Mandal/ Circle Officer Certificate starts from 2nd April, 2018: Assam Government announce notification for NRC Special Verification Process for Gaon Panchayat Secretary/ Lot Mandal/ Circle Officer Certificate.

❖ As per direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, an exhaustive verification process is required to be carried out for GP Secretary/ Lot Mandal/ Circle Officer Certificates submitted by married women as proof of linkage with the Legacy Person.
❖ This verification will be carried out through a hearings-based process where the married women will be asked to appear. The Issuing Authority (Gaon Panchayat Secretary/ Lot Mandal/ Circle Officer) will also be present at the hearing to produce evidence based on which the certificate was issued.

❖ The certificate holder is required to bring with her the original of the Certificate. If the Original is not available, then a photocopy may be bought for the hearing. Further she may produce any evidence/ proof which can prove the truthfulness of the linkage certified. For this purpose, she may also bring with her either the Legacy Person or other descendants of that Legacy Person for recording of their statements to substantiate her claim of linkage claimed.
❖ A Notice will be issued to the certificate holder to appear at a hearing venue which will be located close to the Gaon Panchayat/ Lot Mandal/ Circle Office from where her certificate was issued. The date, time and venue for the hearing will be mentioned in the Notice that will be delivered house to house by NRC field level functionaries.
❖ No third party or members outside the family will be allowed to participate in the hearings.
