Recruitment of 5,624 into Assam State police soon- Current Affair, April 2018: The Assam Police is going to recruit 5,624 candidates soon to induct them in the force, said State-level Police Recruitment Board chairman Pradip Kumar. Assam police will recruit youths from insurgency-affected areas of the state to wean them away from militancy.
Chairman of state-level police recruitment board, Pradeep Kumar, said on Tuesday that the state government has decided to recruit youths from militancy-hit areas against 10 per cent of the total vacancies. He said militancy is already on the wane and recruiting youths from places affected by militancy would dissuade them from treading the path of insurgency.

Kumar said the special branch of Assam police has identified 80 police station areas affected by insurgency and the recruitment would be carried out from these places.
He said two per cent each of the vacancies would be allotted to sportspersons, special police officers, homeguards, members of village defence parties and former members of militant outfits.
He said the physical qualification required for female candidates for recruitment as sub-inspectors had been relaxed as many candidates could not clear the physical test last year. “We will reduce the distance of race for female candidates from 1,600 metres to 800m,” he said.
Kumar said the board on Monday completed selection of 90 personnel for the Rhino Protection Force being raised by the forest department. “We have sent the list of successful candidates to the forest department,” he said.
Kumar said they have also announced the names of 1,386 successful candidates for recruitment as armed branch constables in Dhubri, Barpeta and Nagaon districts. The board will recruit 5,624 policemen, including 130 sub-inspectors, 1,851 unarmed branch constables and 3,643 armed branch constables and the advertisement will be issued in the next 10-15 days, he added.

Kumar said the state government had asked the board to conduct the recruitment of 525 forest guards, 135 jail wardens and 145 constables for the Assam Industrial Security Force.
Talking to the media in Guwahati on Tuesday, Kumar said: “The 5,624 posts comprise 130 posts of sub-inspectors, 1,851 posts of UB constables and 3,643 posts of AB constables. An advertisement in this regard is going to be published within ten days. In case of recruitment of constables, there will two per cent allotment each for sportspersons, SPOs, home guards, VDPs and former militants. There will also be ten per cent allotment for candidates from militancy-affected areas in the recruitment of constables. There’re 80 police stations located at militancy-affected areas in the State.”
Kumar further said: “We’ve also been entrusted to recruit 525 forest guards, 135 jail wardens and 145 AISF personnel. While the advertisements for recruitment of AISF personnel and forest guards have already been published, the one for jail wardens is going to be published soon.”
Meanwhile, Kumar declared the lists of AB constables prepared for Dhubri, Barpeta and Nagaon districts at the press briefing. A total of 1,386 candidates – 1,249 males and 137 females – have been selected as constables for the three districts. The advertisement for the three districts was for 1,420 posts, but 34 posts have been left out as no applicant against ST(H) posts applied from Dhubri and Barpeta districts. Kumar also declared the results 90 posts – nine females and 81 males— of the Rhino Protection Force.
