Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Matriculation coupled with a 03-year full-time Diploma in relevant technical disciplines from a recognized Government institute or university.

Eligible and interested candidates must apply online exclusively through SAIL’s official website www.sail.co.in, specifically on the “Careers” page or www.sailcareers.com. No other modes of application will be accepted.

Before initiating the application process on the website, candidates should ensure the following:

Submission Process:

  • Submit the application solely through the SAIL website www.sail.co.in, under the “Careers” section or www.sailcareers.com.
  • Thoroughly review the advertisement to confirm eligibility criteria.
  • Refer to the User Manual available on the site and follow the outlined steps.
  • Click on “Login.”
  • If a “New User,” complete the One Time Registration (OTR) initially, then proceed by clicking on “Registered User” using the assigned User ID & Password.
  • For those already registered, directly click on “Registered User” and log in using User ID & Password.
  • Progress through the application submission process systematically by providing the necessary information, uploading the required document(s), and making the payment through the designated payment gateway.
  • After fulfilling all requirements, submit the application and obtain a printout of the application with the assigned Application ID.
  • Note that no requests for editing payment details or issuance of Admit Card will be entertained for incorrectly submitted applications, and such candidatures will be rejected.

Upon successful submission of the online application, candidates must download the system-generated Application Form containing the unique Application ID/Number. Candidates shortlisted for the skill test should present the same during the skill test session.

  • General/OBC/EWS candidates: Rs. 500/-
  • SC/ST/PwBD/ESM/Departmental candidates: Rs. 200/-

MODE OF SELECTION:

(i) Computer Based Test (CBT):
Eligible candidates must participate in the Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted in Hindi/English. The CBT comprises 100 Objective type questions divided into 2 segments: 50 on Domain Knowledge and 50 on Aptitude Test. The duration of the CBT is 90 minutes.

(ii) Qualifying Marks:
The minimum qualifying marks in the CBT will be determined based on a 50 percentile score for unreserved/EWS posts and a 40 percentile score for posts reserved for SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy Layer)/PwBDs. The qualifying marks will be calculated separately for each post/discipline.

(iii) Shortlisting for Skill Test:
Candidates who qualify in the CBT for the mentioned posts will be shortlisted for the skill test in order of merit, at a ratio of 1:3 for each post/discipline. If multiple candidates achieve the cut-off marks, all of them will be called for the skill test. The skill test will be conducted at any Plant/Unit/Mines location of the SAIL.

(iv) Final Selection:
The Skill Test is only qualifying in nature. For final selection, the weightage of marks of the CBT will be 100%. Based on reservation criteria, offer letters will be issued to candidates with higher marks in the CBT. In case of a tie in the CBT cut-off marks, the candidate with higher marks in the eligibility qualification will be chosen.

(v) Formation of Discipline-wise Panel:
A discipline-wise panel will be formed in order of merit (in the ratio of 1:1, i.e., number of posts advertised to the number of candidates in the panel). This panel will be activated in case of non-joining of candidates against the initial offer of appointment. The panel will remain valid for a period of six months from the date of approval.

(vi) Admission to CBT/Skill Test:
Candidates will be permitted for CBT/Skill Test upon production of the call letter/admit card, one Government-approved photo identity proof, and after undergoing Biometric authentication at the venue.

PHYSICAL STANDARDThe health standards indicated above are minimum pre-requisites. However, appointment of selected candidates will be subject to they being found medically fit by the Company’s Medical Officer / Board as per standards laid down under SAIL Medical & Health Manual.
