Online Test
Candidates need to clear both Objective and Descriptive Tests, which collectively carry 170 marks.
Objective Test Details
The Objective Test is divided into four sections with specific time allocations:
- English Language: 30 questions in 30 minutes
- Banking Knowledge: 40 questions in 40 minutes
- General Awareness/Economy: 30 questions in 30 minutes

Screening
Shortlisted candidates from the Online Test phase undergo screening by the Bank’s Screening Committee. This committee verifies candidates’ eligibility criteria and matches their job profiles with the Scale-I Generalist Officer’s job profile at SBI.
Interview
Candidates meeting the screening criteria proceed to the Interview stage, which carries a weightage of 50 marks. Achieving the minimum qualifying marks in this stage is crucial for final selection.
Final Selection Criteria
The final merit list combines scores from the Online Test (170 marks) and Interview (50 marks) through a normalization process.
- The Online Test scores (out of 170) are converted to out of 75 marks.
- The Interview scores (out of 50) are converted to out of 25 marks.
The aggregated marks from both stages result in a total out of 100. Selections occur based on the top-ranking candidates on the merit list prepared on a Circle-wise and Category-wise basis.
Candidates must qualify separately in both the Online Test and Interview to be eligible for final selection. The final merit list, formulated with a weightage of 75:25 for Online Test and Interview respectively, determines the selection of candidates for the Circle Based Officer positions at the State Bank of India.
