Syllabus of D.El.Ed Pre-Entry Test

The syllabus for the D.El.Ed Pre-Entry Test (PET) is designed to assess the candidate’s knowledge and skills in various subjects crucial for elementary education. The test is divided into two sections, Section-I and Section-II, with a total of 100 marks and 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The key details are as follows:

Total Time: 2 Hours

Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.


Section-I (Total Marks: 35)

This section tests the candidate’s proficiency in the following areas:

  1. General English (10 Marks)
    • Topics: Vocabulary, Tenses, Verbs, Prepositions, Comprehension, Voice Change, Narration, Adverbs, Synonyms, Antonyms.
  2. General Knowledge (15 Marks)
    • Topics: Current Affairs, Who is Who, Abbreviations, Constitution of India, History of Assam, Inventions and Discoveries, Sports, Art and Culture, Everyday Science, World Organizations, Geography of India, Educational Commissions and Committees, New Educational Initiatives, and Educational Organizations.
  3. Reasoning (10 Marks)
    • Topics: Logical and Analytical Reasoning, Patterns, etc.

Section-II (Total Marks: 65)

This section tests the candidate’s knowledge in the following subjects:

  1. General Mathematics (15 Marks)
    • Topics:
      • Numbers: Natural, Whole, Even and Odd Numbers, Prime and Composite Numbers, Place Value, Four Fundamental Operations of Number, Factors and Multiples, Prime Factors, LCM and HCF, Ascending and Descending Order.
      • Fractions: Concept and Uses.
      • Percentage: Concept, Problems Involving Percentage, Profit and Loss.
      • Money: Concept, Problems Involving Money.
      • Geometry: Angles, Types of Angles, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Circles.
      • Measurement: Length, Area, Volume, Perimeter, Weight, and Time.
      • Data Handling: Representation of Data, Bar Diagram, Pie Diagram.
      • Square & Square Root: Concept, Problems Involving Square Root.
      • Ratio and Proportion.
      • Simple Algebraic Equations.
  2. General Science & EVS (15 Marks)
