Eligibility Criteria for SSC CHSL 2025
Candidates must carefully review the eligibility conditions before filling out the application form.
Educational Qualification
- For LDC/JSA and most DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts: Candidates must have passed the 12th Standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
- For Data Entry Operator (DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’) in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Ministry of Culture: Candidates must have passed the 12th Standard in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
Age Limit (as of 01-01-2026)
- Candidates must be between 18 and 27 years of age.
- This means applicants must have been born not before 02-01-1999 and not later than 01-01-2008.
Age Relaxation
The upper age limit is relaxable for reserved categories as per government rules:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PWD (Unreserved): 10 years
- PWD (OBC): 13 years
- PWD (SC/ST): 15 years
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years

Scheme of CHSL Examination
Candidates applied online for Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Exam and found eligible will have to appear in Computer Based Examinations to be held in two tiers:
# Tier-I
# Tier-II
Marks scored by candidates in Computer Based Examinations, if conducted in multiple shifts, will be normalized by using the formula published by the Commission and such normalized scores will be used to determine final merit and cut-off marks.
Tier I (Computer Based Examination)
The Tier-I Examination will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions only. The questions will be set in English, Hindi and any language opted by the candidate in the application form.
Type of questions: Questions will be Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions.
Total marks: 200 marks
No of questions: 100 questions
Negative marking: There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
Time duration: 60 minutes (80 minutes for the candidates eligible for scribe as per official notification).

General Intelligence: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. General Awareness: Questions are designed to test the candidate‟s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.
Tier II (Computer Based Examination)
Candidates who qualify for SSC CHSL Tier I will have to appear in SSC CHSL Tier II, which consists of two sessions, each with specific sections.
