SSC conducts ssc je every year.So clearing a exam requires complete analysis of the syllabus and exam pattern. Now SSC JE syllabus is easy to find. But the difficult thing is to analyze them. So here we will elaborate the exam pattern and the syllabus to give you perfect idea of the exam.

SSC JE Syllabus consists of three subjects. They are conducted online based.

  • General Awareness
  • General Engineering FOR Civil and Structural OR Electrical and Mechanical

NOTE- In SSC junior engineer(JE) General Intelligence and Reasoning and General Awareness are compulsory for all. But depending on you branch. You need to choose Civil and Structural OR Electrical and Mechanical.

SSC JE has three subjects but you need to give only one of the three subjects. depending upon your branch. And you will be given 2 hours and will have 300 marks.



Note- PAPER 2 is different from PAPER 1. Here the level of questions will be higher and consists of higher concepts. I suggest you study for GATE materials. GATE is of high from but even failing in GATE is a success for you. As it will make you SSC JE preparation easier.

SSC JE SYLLABUS for Structural Engineering

Cantilever and over hanging beams.  Moment of area for mechanics and moment of inertia for rectangular and circular sections, bending moment and shear stress forte for  channel  and  compound  sections,  chimneys,  dams  and  retaining  walls, Elasticity  constants, types  of  beams and determinate  and indeterminate,  bending moment and shear force diagrams of simply support.

RCC Design: Reinforced brick works, columns, staircases, retaining wall, water tanks. Steel Design: Steel design and construction of steel columns, beams of roof trusses and plate girders. RCC beams and flexural strength, shear strength, bond strength, design of singly reinforced and double reinforced beams, cantilever beams.    T-beams, lintels.    One way and two way slabs, isolated footings.

Concrete Technology:  Repair and maintenance of concrete structures, Properties, Advantages and uses of concrete, cement aggregates, importance of water  quality,  water  cement  ratio,  workability,  mix  design,  storage,  batching,  mixing,  placement,compaction,  finishing  and  curing  of  concrete,  quality  control  of  concrete,  hot  weather  and  cold weather concreting.




We don’t see more jobs for electrical in government sector for Electrial students. So SSC junior engineer (JE) is a great opportunity for those who want enter the government sector.

Measurement of frequency and phase angle.    Ammeter  and  voltmeter,extension of range wattmeter,  Millimeters, Megger, Energy meter AC BridgesFractional Kilowatt Motors and Single Phase Induction Motors: Characteristics and applications.


Estimation and costing: Estimation of lighting scheme,  and relevant rules.  Earthling practices IE Rules and electric installation of machines. Utilization  of  Electrical  Energy:  Illumination,  Electric  heating,  Electric  welding,  Electroplating, Electric drives and motors.

Basic Electronics: Working of different  types of electronic devices e.g. P N Junction diodes, Transistors, BJT and JFET. Simple circuits using these devices



The SSC junior engineer (JE) is probably the best job for mechanical students.It usually come minimum once in a year.
