How to Download AFCAT 01/2026 Admit Card

Vacancy Details and Eligibility Criteria

The IAF is looking to fill 340 vacancies for the Flying Branch and Ground Duty.

1. Post & Branch Distribution

  • Flying Branch: Commissioned Officers responsible for piloting aircraft.
  • Ground Duty (Technical): Specialized roles in aeronautical engineering (Electronics/Mechanical).
  • Ground Duty (Non-Technical): Roles in Administration, Logistics, Accounts, and Education branches.

2. Educational Qualification

  • Flying Branch: Graduation with minimum 60% marks and Physics/Maths at 10+2 level, or B.E./B.Tech.
  • Ground Duty (Technical): 4-year degree in Engineering/Technology.
  • Ground Duty (Non-Technical): Graduate degree in any discipline or related fields for specialized branches.

3. Age Limit (As of 01-01-2027)

  • Flying Branch: 20 to 24 Years.
  • Ground Duty: 20 to 26 Years.

The Path to the Blue Uniform**

To become a Flying Officer, candidates must successfully clear four distinct stages:

  1. Written Exam: An objective-type test assessing General Awareness, Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning.
  2. SSB Interview: Testing personality, leadership qualities, and psychological aptitude (AFSB).
  3. Document Verification: Validation of original academic and identity certificates.
  4. Medical Examination: Rigorous health check-up to ensure fitness for air force duties.
