Objectives of Ishan Uday Scholarship
- To provide equal opportunities for higher studies in the NE Region.
- To increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in the NE Region.
- To focus more on professional education in the NE Region.
- Optimum utilization of NER Budgetary Allocation.
The scheme aims to provide 10,000 fresh scholarships every year starting from the academic year 2014-15 for general degree courses, technical and professional courses, including medical and paramedical courses.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Institutions
The scholarship is available for students pursuing UG degree programs in:
- Universities/Colleges/Institutes included under section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956, and having valid accreditation from NAAC.
- Deemed to be Universities under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, and having valid accreditation from NAAC.
- Institutes of National Importance.
- Institutions recognized by other Statutory councils within as well as outside.
Student Criteria
- Class: Only students admitted in the first year of UG degree programs in the academic year 2024-25 are eligible. Students who have already acquired any degree are not eligible.
- Course Type: The scholarship is payable for the UG component in ‘integrated’ and ‘dual degree’ programs.
- Mode of Course: Available only for students in ‘Regular/Full Time’ mode. Open/distance/correspondence/private/part-time students are not eligible.
- Family Income: Parental income should not exceed Rs. 4.5 lakh per annum.
- Domicile Certificate: Students must have a valid domicile certificate of any State of NER.
Exclusions
- Students pursuing courses through Open Universities.
- Students already availing scholarships for UG programs under any other scheme(s).
- Students gaining admission through ‘management quota’.
- Students pursuing diploma courses not leading to a degree.
- Students whose parents’ income exceeds Rs. 4.5 lakh per annum.
