Dear respected sir,
I hope
COVID-19 has become the severest global pandemic of recent times challenging the public
health systems across the globe. The cases are rapidly rising across India and becoming a major
health issue. The Government of India has already declared a country wide lock down to contain the
spread of the virus. Many assumptions/predictions/studies are predicting an unprecedented
increase in infections if proper containment is not implemented and the number of such cases will
outnumber existing capacities of the public health system. In such a situation with either converted
or transitional facilities, the functions including quarantine, isolation and medical treatment
including critical care would be required. While Government of India and state government in Assam
is gearing up to meet the logistical needs for such situation, a cadre of volunteers are in urgent need
to support the frontline workforce in certain non-medical activities related to COVID-19 response.
