UGC-NET Exam Postponed, To Be Held From September 24: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed the UGC National Entrance Test (UGC-NET) 2020 as the dates of the examination were clashing with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) exam.

The UGC-NET 2020 was supposed to be conducted from September 16 to 25. It will now be conducted from September 24 onwards.

“The National Testing Agency will be conducting ICAR exams on 16th, 17th, 22nd and 23rd September. In view of that, UGC-NET 2020 Exam will now be held from September 24 onwards,” said Sadhana Parashar, Senior Director, NTA.

She added that the examination is being postponed as there are some common candidates in both exams and the requests received thereof. The exact schedule of subject-wise and shift-wise details will be uploaded subsequently.

The downloading of Admit Cards indicating Roll Number, Examination Centre, Date, Shift and timing of Examination will be announced shortly on the official website (ugcnet.nta.nic.in) of UGC- NET Examination, 2020.

The candidates and their parents are advised to keep visiting the official website(s) (ugcnet.nta.nic.in and www.nta.ac.in) for latest updates of UGC-NET Examination, 2020.

DEE Assam Asks Newly Appointed Regular Teachers To Join By 17th September: Directorate of Elementary Education, Assam has released an important notification regarding joining of  newly selected and appointed regular teachers under the Directorate of Elementary Education, Assam. In this regard, a notification has been released.

This is for general information to all concerned newly selected and appointed regular teachers under the Directorate of Elementary Education, Assam against advertisement No. EAA/SIU/125/22 Dated 11.03.2018 and No. EAA/SIU/125/31 Dated 11.03.2018; who were allowed to download their individual appointment letters from the official website of DEE, Assam, i.e. dee.assam.gov.in from 28.08.2020 are directed to join in their respective places of posting latest by 17.09.2020.

Assam: SEBA HSLC Syllabus For 2021 To Be Reduced By 30 PerCent: COVID-19 pandemic leads Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) to reduce 30 per cent syllabus of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations for 2021. The decision was announced today by SEBA chairman R. C. Jain.

The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) has decided to reduce 30 percent syllabus of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations for 2021 in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.All the schools will get the new syllabus in PDF format on Tuesday next. On the other hand, syllabus for class nine students will also be reduced by 30 per cent.

Earlier, Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) had reduced 30 per cent of the syllabus for higher secondary second year students.

“Almost 30 per cent syllabus of all the subjects will be reduced. We will send the new curriculum to the schools tomorrow. The new syllabus will be made available on our official website also,” said Jain.

Earlier, Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) had reduced 30 per cent of the syllabus for higher secondary second year students.

It may be mentioned that all the schools, both government as well as private have remained closed since March this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Assam government is contemplating to open school for the students of class 9, 10, 11 and 12 from October 1. This was stated by state Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. However, informal classes for higher secondary second year and undergraduate final year will start from September 15. On the other hand, teachers will have to attend school from September 1. Sarma stated that the directives will be the same both for private as well as government educational institutes.

Earlier, weighing in on the million-dollar question on the reopening of schools in Assam, the state’s Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna had said that a final call is yet to be taken as far as returning students back to their educational institutions is concerned. “Discussions are still going on and teachers have been asked to return from September 1. However, no final decision has been taken yet in regards to returning students to their respective schools”, the Chief Secretary said on the sidelines of an event.

Currently, the teachers and other education sector employees are being tested for the COVID-19 virus before their return to the campuses following the Government’s order. Assam’s Education and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had recently stated that the employees under the sector must mandatorily get themselves tested for the virus from August 21 to 30. Following this, they are to report back to their respective workplaces from September 1. Failure to do this shall see them marked as “on leave”, Sarma had announced during a recent presser.

Speculation has been growing over the reopening of the educational institutions as there appears to be uncertainty surrounding the reopening of educational institutes in Assam from September 1 as initially planned by the health department. The Unlock 3 guidelines released on 29 July 2020 allowed many activities including commercial operations to restart, but kept schools closed. As per reports, the Centre is in consultation with state governments, the health ministry, and parents to draft guidelines around school reopening. However, parents and some states are reluctant because of concerns over the safety of the children.

In view of Pandemic Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has decided to reduce 30 per cent syllabus of upcoming final exams of HS 1st and 2nd year to be held in 2021. 

AHSEC has uploaded the 30% (reduced portion only) syllabi for all subjects of H.S. First and Second year of Arts, Science & Commerce streams in the official website of the Council www.ahsec.nic.in.

Assam : Teacher And Other Employee Of Educational Institutes To Join Office From September 21:  Education Department, Govt. of Assam has released an important notification regarding attending the educational institutes by all employees i.e., both teaching and non-teaching staff. In this regard, a notification has been published. 

As per the notification all employees both teaching and non-teaching staff of Schools, Colleges, Universities, Technical Colleges/Institutions and Teacher Training Institutions/Colleges will undergo COVID-19 test upto 18th September, 2020 as per protocol of District Administration and Health and Family Welfare Department issued from time to time.
