ST Scholarship Assam 2026: ST Scholarship Assam is an initiative of the Directorate of Tribal Affairs (Plain), Assam. This scholarship is awarded only to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category students of Assam. This scholarship offers financial support to ST students studying in Pre-Matric and Post-Matric courses for the academic session 2026-2027. Interested and eligible candidates may apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). ST Scholarship Assam last date is 6th October 2026.

About ST Scholarship Assam

Introduction of ST Scholarship Scheme – The scheme would support and provide funds to the deserving students from Scheduled Tribes in their Education. You have to be a permanent Resident of Assam, and also the Government is providing Scholarship only for Scheduled Tribe Community Students.

It is the scholarship support students are studying schools, colleges, universities, technical institution and professional colleges in India.

  • Pre-Matric Scholarship
  • Post-Matric Scholarship

Together these schemes aim to check drop rates and increase enrolment of tribal children in quality education.

ST Scholarship Assam Details

Eligibility Criteria of Assam ST Scholarship

These scholarships shall be available for studies in India only and will be awarded by the Government of the State/Union Territory to which the applicant actually belongs, i.e. permanently settled. Individual eligibility criteria for each scholarship are given below.

Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Students

Class IX & X

Eligibility

  • Applicant student should belong to the Scheduled Tribe specified in relation to the State/Union Territory to which he/she actually belongs (Domicile State).
  • The student should be studying in a Government School or in a School recognized by Government or a Central/State Board of Secondary Education.
  • The family income of the student from all sources should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum.
  • The student should have a valid account in a Scheduled Bank linked with Aadhaar and mobile number.
  • The student should not be getting any other scholarship.
  • Scholarship for studying in any class will be available for only one year. If a student has to repeat a class, he/she would not get scholarship for the same class twice. The student can renew scholarship for the next class when promoted.

Post-Matric Scholarship for ST Students

Eligibility

  • The student should belong to Scheduled Tribe specified in relation to the State/Union Territory to which he/she actually belongs (Domicile State).
  • Student should have passed the Matriculation or Higher Secondary or any higher examination of a recognized University or Board of Secondary Education.
  • The family income of the student from all sources should not exceed Rs. 2.50 lakh per annum.
  • The student should have a valid account in a Scheduled Bank linked with Aadhaar and Mobile number.
  • The student should not be getting any other scholarship.
  • The scholarships will be given for study of recognized post-matriculation/post-secondary courses recognized by the concerned approving authority in the following institutions.

  • All Government Institutes/Colleges/Universities
  • Institutions of National Importance
  • Central University/State University/Autonomous Colleges recognized by UGC and Universities/Colleges recognized under Section 2(f) and/or 12(b) of UGC Act
  • Deemed Universities
  • Private Universities recognized by State/Centre with ‘A’ level or equivalent accreditation by NAAC/NBA
  • Private Professional Institutions affiliated to a recognized Central/State University
  • Schools/Colleges recognized by Government/Government Aided for Classes XI to XII
  • Diploma Granting Institutions recognized by State/UT Governments
  • Vocational Training Institutes affiliated to National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT)
  • Institutions affiliated/approved by MCI, AICTE or any other regulatory body established by State/Centre

Candidates can apply online for ST Scholarship Assam through the National Scholarship Portal.

  • Candidates should visit the official National Scholarship Portal.
  • Click on the Online Application Form link.
  • Click on New Registration.
  • Complete the registration by entering the required details.
  • Login using the registered credentials.
  • Fill in the application form and upload the required documents.
  • Submit the application form and take a printout for future reference.
